All tax payers are eligible(atleast mostly)
folks like Bayarea07 are plain and stupid

Lets not be so harsh. Bayarea07, thought he had a valid concern, although it is not true.
Did anybody notice this in the IRS communication that was sent out to taxpayers:
For taxpyers, the amount of money will be "reduced" or " completely phased out" for individuals making adjusted gross income or more than $75K ( or more than $150 if married and filing jointly).
How about that?

I tried an ITIN but I got a formal response from IRS that the child needs to have a SSN to be eligible for the credit.
This is from the IRS website at:
http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq7-2.html
Can I get the Child Tax Credit for a child with an ITIN, not a social security number?
Yes, with an individual tax identification number (ITIN), you can claim the Child Tax Credit if you otherwise qualify. The Child Tax Credit can only be claimed by the parent claiming the child as a dependent.
Please refer to the Form 1040 Instructions or the Form 1040A Instructions index for the Child Tax Credit. The referenced pages will explain who qualifies for the Child Tax Credit, and how to calculate it.
When you are finished with FAQs, please tell us if we have helped you by clicking here and taking a short survey.
References:
* Form 1040 Instructions
* Form 1040A Instructions
* Tax Topic 606, Child Tax Credit
As for:
If you ever filed your tax return yourself and have a kid, you will know what I mean.
I have filed returns for my child but my child was born here so we do have a SSN.

"I see lots of frustration here. July fillers, you will definitely feel good after hearing my story. At least you are not in my situation. Read this: I was eligible to file in June under June visa bulletin. My deshi blood s^#$* employer did not provide me the letter in time. I am in my 7th year of H1B and they refused to provide my I-140 approval copy. I have the receipt# only. Attorney will not give it to me either. Now what should I do. You guys at lest will be able to file may be in future. What about me! Please suggest anyone!! Now I can not go to a new employer also! See, you are in better position than mine."

bharol, You and I have same Priority Date and Category Mine is also PD 3rd Sept 2004 ( EB-2)
Let me know when you get your approval
Looking at the recent approvals looks like USCIS does the following:
1. Pick up x number of files using a random algorithm.
2. Arrange these files in a random order using the same random algorithm
followed in step 1.
3. Randomly pick any file arranged in step 2.
4. Toss a coin.
5. On odd dates if it is heads, approve the file. On even dates if it is tails
approve it.
6. If file is not approved in step 5 put it on the shelf to be picked up
in step 1 in next cycle.

Mass porting to EB2 category is the only option. I think most people with old EB3 PD can easily do it. I was reluctant initially but since there is no light at the end of the tunnel, why not take a chance while PD porting is still available. Dont get discouraged by people advising against it, since there is no hope for EB3 anyways.

Actually it was lost by only 2 votes. Only 95 Senators voted and hence 57 votes would have been enough to carry it through. Really Sad. :(

In addition to writing Ombudsman, it has been decided to intensify this campaign and write to higher ups at the USCIS. A few new actions items have been identified and posted at: http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22182
Note that this campaign has active support by core members and the strategy of writing these letters has been decided after a lot of discussions. But to achieve positive results and changes at USCIS we need to send these letters in big numbers. Please participate in that campaign and send those 4 letters as soon as you can. Thanks.

Hi All,
I just contacted the USCIS customer service regarding my pending AP application filed at NSC on July 24th, 2007. The customer service rep did not provide any useful information other than the usual "case received and pending".
However he did open a service request (SR) for me and advised me that IO will get back to me on the status of my AP application within 30 days and why its getting too long to adjudicate my AP application.
Do any of you have any experience what will happen from now on? Do they really respond within 30 days???
Below is my filing info
Filed I-485/EAD/AP - July 24th, 2007 - NSC
I-140 approved - Dec 2006
EAD received - Oct, 07
FP done
AP - Pending
LUDS on I-140/I-485 in November and Early December (These LUDS are in addition to LUDS on I-485 when FP was done)

I would suggest, if we have 4-5 people per day for 31 days do the hunger strike. This will have a greater impact than just 1 day of hunger strike. The day should be strategized to match with the opening of the Congress session in 2007.
Are there 150 people ready to do that.

My pain is similar to yours buddy mine also took 6 months to file. The VB is now an monthly sadness event, even my wife is waiting for EAD, in the current time its almost impossible to get a job if one needs sponsorship read H1, despite being well qualified and having work experience. Also if we have EAD you probably would not have to go through H1B Extension (RFE's), I had to undergo this as well, fortunately my stamping was smooth. Until our day comes we just have to wait, I think the only chance is the new proposed 485 filing procedure when its implemented.
Mee too.
but the proposed 2 tier system has been pushed from this december to next June 2010 (i.e 6 months) as of now, not sure whether they will come up with it at least in June...
Lot of people are waiting to file their final step....They should start allowing to file 485 at least one year after based on their work load and based on their pre adjudication....

I started off with a one time contribution many months ago, and then signed up for $20 monthly contributions.
Today, when I saw the action item for the new funding drive and that the recurring contribution request had gone up to $50, I couldn't initially bring my stingy self to changing my contribution from $20 to $50.
Then I asked myself, If I were offered a green card today, at an additional 'premium' fee (Besides the filing, attorney fees), how much would I be willing to pay? probably, $2, 3, 4, 5, or even upto $10000. That being the case why was I being a miser about spending $50 a month supporting a great organization like IV.
With that thought, I immediately went ahead and signed up for the $50 a month contribution and cancelled my old $20 subscription on Paypal.
I am single and don't have a family to support like most of you do, but this $50 a month will go a long way. We have seen IV get results. From what has gone on in the last few months, up until last night, we know that IV is the only organization that really works for our interest. Oh, Shusterman, ILW, Murthy might all be good attorneys but they don't push our interests like IV does.
With that, I would request all of you to join hands and work with IV in bringing a revolutionary change to the employment immigration system.
Thank you all, in advance.
20,000 members of which at least 15,000 are real (not non-immigrant trolls).
If all sign up for $50 a month, IV would generate $750,000 a month. That kind of money = serious lobbying efforts = we get our green cards well before it is time to retire
